An unrealized production of the Tempest, exploring its colonial themes by setting it during the Hispanic colonial period in Puerto Rico. The costumes feature several native plants and animals, to differing degrees based on their relationship with the island.

Fall 2019—Designs for Rachmaninoff’s Aleko. To circumvent the stereotypes embedded in the text, I chose to cast the troupe as beings from Celtic mythology (also known for their whimsy, freedom, and flexible romantic arrangements). Zemfira is a swan wife from Welsh folklore, the band and lover are other Sidhe representing different endemic species of the British Isles, and Zemfira’s father is the hill itself, and a giant puppet.
